The majority of helpdesk requests in companies relate to changing forgotten passwords. In large companies in particular, such routine interventions leave less time for important tasks. On the other hand, employees sometimes have to manage without system access because support is overloaded. The bottom line is frustrated users and wasted resources. IDT Biologika GmbH has therefore been using the Password Reset Self Service from projekt0708 GmbH since 2013 - an add-on for independently unlocking an SAP user and resetting the password.

The man is himself
"It was important to us to relieve the basic administration and minimize security problems," explains Matthias Dreher. In the search for a solution, they came across the Password Reset Self Service (PWR) - an add-on from projekt0708 GmbH. The introduction of the add-on was an important and timely step towards user-friendliness," says Alexander Lau, SAP Master Data Assistant. Password unlocking has been a recurring topic, especially in internal SAP training courses. A time-consuming process given the large number of training participants. Users now only need a manual that can be opened as a PDF file via a help button. "The step-by-step instructions are easy to understand and can now be worked through by users without any problems for the most part," continues Lau.
Fast & uncomplicated
The projekt0708 team immediately provided IDT Biologika with the add-on for a test, which showed that the solution met all requirements. A total of six months passed between the search for a suitable solution in February 2013, the test in the sandbox and the installation of the add-on and the Golive. projekt0708 was able to configure the solution directly on site within two days.
Since the Golive in August 2013, more than 600 successful unblocks have already been carried out - this corresponds to around 70 percent of all helpdesk requests. Dreher is particularly pleased that the availability of the administration no longer has to be taken into account: "The administration is no longer disturbed in its actual operational process and unblocking takes place much faster. On average, this now only takes one minute."
Flexible unlocking
IDT Biologika is highly satisfied with the result: "Unblocking can be carried out flexibly by anyone - regardless of the time of day or night," says Grit Jahn, Head of Customer Service. By using the PWR, IDT Biologika not only saves valuable time, but also avoids the costs that would be incurred by using the helpdesk. The accelerated processes and the possibility for users to reset their password at any time and from any location without the risk of unauthorized access have convinced IDT Biologika.
