In order to successfully place themselves in the battle for skilled workers and to attract the next generation, companies must present themselves in a modern and open way during the application process. Anyone, who does not present the jobs attractively on their own website, relies solely on paper application or only informs applicants about their application status after months, quickly has a outdated image and, in consequence, loses talent to the competition. This was also recognized by the Max Bögl Group, and they were looking for a solution that would optimize their processes in HR management. The aim was to reduce the administrative effort and create a visually appealing career platform, which is also compatible with mobile devices and meets the data protection requirements.
Progress is built from ideas
Today the Max Bögl Group can proudly refer to 85 years of company history. With 35 locations in Germany and abroad, more than 6000 employees, about 300 trainees and an annual turnover of about 1.5 billion euros, the company is one of the national top 5 in its industry.
Accelerate processes
"Optimizing and accelerating the processes were our primary goals," recalls Michael Mederer, Project Manager SAP E-Recruiting at Max Bögl. However, it was not only necessary to improve the processes in candidate management, but also to increase the company's attractiveness for potential candidates and to optimize communication. "By providing an appealing and intuitively usable career portal, we also want to attract applicants who are using smartphones, tablets etc. "The candidates and Max Bögl can thus contact each other outside their fixed PC workstations, anywhere and at any time", explains Stefan Grad, responsible for personnel processes at Max Bögl. In terms of the product´s visual design, Max Bögl also had the most precise ideas: The company wanted a user interface close to the SAP standard - matching the company's corporate identity.
Professionalism and sympathy
“The flexible consulting service made a particularly good impression on us. The consultants listened to us carefully and only recommended what we really needed.” The personal level was also right. “The mixture of professionalism, creativity and sympathy ultimately made the project a success.”
Together, they carried out a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and processes at the international construction company and then planned the project down to the last detail. “A good third of the implementation phase was reserved for planning and design. Within four months, we had recorded the current status and mapped a target status. The subsequent actual implementation went smoothly - the long planning phase was effective,” says Mederer.
In order to get all recruiters on board, Stefan Grad held two training sessions: “In the form of basic training, we ran through the entire application process from receipt of the personnel request to recruitment and also took into account any deviations from the target process. The company's managers were also familiarized with the application. This meant that everyone who would later come into contact with the SAP solution was integrated into the project at an early stage and gained confidence in using the new software.”
The conversion of internal processes and the new career portal primarily benefit applicants, who can quickly gain an overview of currently advertised positions in the careers section of the construction group's homepage. Once a suitable position has been found, an application can be sent with just a few clicks. “The candidate cockpit makes it much easier for applicants to manage their documents,” says a delighted Stefan Grad. Even now - just a few months after implementation - there has already been an increase in online applications.
The recruiters have been working intensively with the system in order to better support candidates throughout the entire application process. Reduced process times and the standardized processing of applications have made it possible for candidates to view and change their application at any time. Transparent processing therefore not only makes work easier in the HR department - applicants also benefit from standardized processes.
In the meantime, the career portal has become a flagship for Max Bögl. Applicants can now click their way through an appealing interface, which is designed in Max Bögl's corporate design, while the SAP solution ensures optimum process support in the background.
With the use of SAP E-Recruiting, Max Bögl is now using a future-proof solution that has not only optimized internal processes, but also conveys a modern image of the employer to the outside world.
